Project Description: The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the reduction of the vulnerability in the development and watershed management in the Southern Department. Title: UNEP UNOPS - Haiti South West Sustainable Development Program
Project Description: This concept note is for the first phase of a long term recovery and sustainable development program for the southwest region of the southern peninsula of Haiti. The program includes 6 & 12 month quick win activities to support the recovery process but has a 20 year vision, a 5 year planning framework and 1 and 2 year costed (funded) work plans. The catchment of Port-à-Piment (population 30,000, 106 km2) will be the epicenter of the technical development work with the application of the Millennium Village integrated rural development model.
Impact on Population: The project focuses on sustainable development of the area of Tiburon-Port Salut group of watersheds and Ile à Vache, where 191,000 people live. The Millenium Village integrated rural development model will be focused on Port-à-Piment.

Project Description: The project will expand the availability of solar energy in Boucan Carré. Additional solar installations funded by this project will power a fish farm, water pumps for drinking and irrigation, schools, street lighting and other community and microenterprise opportunities.

Project Description: The proposal provides Additional Financing (AF) to the ongoing Urban Community Driven Development Project (PRODEPUR). Project Description: The project aims to support the Haitian government and civil society in the fight against violence based on gender. Title: Rebuilding Haiti: Expanding access to essential sexual and reproductive health services in response to the earthquake disaster
Project Description: The specific objectives of this project over the short and medium term are to: increase access to integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services; strengthen the protection of women and girls, as well as support for victims of gender-based violence; increase PROFAMIL’s SRH education, service and contraceptives delivery to youth through the provision of youth friendly activities and the strengthening of PROFAMIL’s peer education program; and enhance efforts to develop and implement a coordinated long term strategy for SRH through the strengthening of partnerships with the public and private sector and other international agencies.

Title: Development Credit Authority (DCA)
Project Description: Before January 12, the supply of credit to the Haitian population mostly targeted large and micro-enterprises. The middle-class credit needs, both on an individual and business basis, were not addressed on a large scale. In response to the current expressed needs for small and medium sized enterprise (SME) and housing financing, USAID Haiti proposes to offer 50% Development Credit Authority (DCA) guarantee coverage as an incentive to financial institutions to expand lending to the SME and housing markets. This will encourage civil servants, entrepreneurs and professionals to stay in Haiti, invest in Haiti, and contribute to its reconstruction efforts.

Title: New Settlements in the Port-au-Prince and Cape Haitien Development Corridors
Project Description: This new settlement programs will: 1) Provide viable new shelter opportunities for those IDPs that are unable to return to their communities of origin. 2) Provide new shelter opportunities in response to unmet housing needs; 3) support emerging economic development opportunities and growth management outside of Port-au-Prince. In the Port-au-Prince and Cap Haitien Development Corridors, USAID intends to develop 15,000 serviced sites. It proposes to build about 4,000 dwelling on these locations and will solicit an additional 8,500 dwelling units from other partners. About 2,500 serviced lots will be made available for middle-income housing development supported by USAID-facilitated housing, In the PPDC, sites have been identified in the Croix des Bouquets, Cite Soleil and Cabaret Municipalities. In the CHDC, potential sites have been identified in the Municipalities of Cap Haitien, Quartier Morin, Limonade, Caracol, Fort Liberte and Ouanaminthe. Each of these locales will benefit from structure planning support as part of this program.

Title: Northern Industrial Park, Phase 1
Project Description: The GOH, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the United States Government (USG), is developing a globally competitive 150 hectare industrial park in the northern region of the country that will host export-oriented garment manufacturers and other businesses. The North Park Project will, in Phase 1 (2012-2014), accommodate approximately 18,000 workers in the garment industry, growing to support 65,000 permanent jobs once the Park is fully developed in the second phase of the project, increasing Haitian garment industry jobs by more than 200%. The industrial park will be owned by the GOH and operated by a private sector management company. In addition to jobs in the garment industry – 60% of which traditionally are held by women – the Park and associated investments in electricity, housing and port infrastructure create opportunities for small businesses, suppliers, food vendors and local farmers. And, as workers spend their income; additional jobs will be created in the local and regional economy.

Title: Economic Empowerment of Adolescent Girls and Young Women
Project Description: The proposed project development objective is to socially and economically empower Haitian adolescent girls and young women (aged 15-24 years) through cash grants/stipends integrated with models of skills development in order to increase their employability and their earning potential in the future. The goal will be to reach at least 3,000 adolescent girls and young women split evenly between the 15-17 and 18-24 cohorts. Preference will be given to disadvantaged girls, subject to an assessment of their capacity to benefit from the program. Empowering vulnerable adolescent girls through skills development and grants will improve their employment potential, while increasing the probability that they will go back to school. Economic empowerment, jointly with going back to school, may play a role in preventing early pregnancy and risky sexual behaviors.
